If we met at a coffee shop and I asked you to tell me about yourself, what would you say? How about I go first.
My name is Kaitlyn Helka. All my family and friends call me Kate. My blog name is godlywomangodlywife. So, you have probably already gathered than I am married. Great! I am 22 years old and yes, I realize that may seem a bit young to be married. But, what can I say? I met the love of my life at a young age.
Anyways, I have been married for 2 and a half years to my best friend, Riley. We live in the center of Oklahoma, in a small town just outside of the capitol, Oklahoma City, named Edmond. Home of the OKC Thunder Basketball Team and right in the middle of the Bible Belt of the US. Oklahoma is a beautiful state, if you like red dirt and flat plains, that is. Personally, my husband and I LOVE the mountains and the forest. Basically, we should be living in Colorado or Arkansas. Maybe one day, right?
I have lived in the same town my whole life since I was 7 years old. My grandparents adopted me at that age. Long story short, my birth mother was not fit to be a parent. But that’s a story for another time. Well, another blog post anyway. Edmond is a great town. It has a lot to do, but once you do it all, well…it might be time for a change.
For the past four years, I have worked in banking. I started out as a Teller at the age of 18 during my freshman year of college. I was encouraged that it was a great job to have while I was attending college. I will admit, banks really do want their employees to further their education. So, they typically will work with your school schedule, which was great for me! Four years later, and three promotions later, I am working for a different bank than the one I started at. I am currently an Administrative Assistant for the bank.
What is an Administrative Assistant, you might ask? Well…it’s a lot of things. The department I work for manages all of the consumer banking centers in our specific state. We have 52 banking centers that we manage. I assist the department in managing the banking centers and tracking the bank’s sales and production. I could write a whole blog post, maybe even two, just about my job and the work I do, so I’ll save that for another time.
On a different note, let me tell you a few reasons why I decided to start this blog. First of all, I love Jesus. That is the most important reason why I started this blog. I hope that through my experiences and my wisdom that I can not only encourage others but maybe be able to help others know the love of Christ. I have a very powerful testimony that recently, I have felt God asking me to share it with others.
I hope you find encouragement and joy when you read my posts and I ask that if you do feel that way, please share with others so the love of Jesus can continue to be shared. I am not labeling this as a Christian Blog. I will, however, label this as a blog told by a woman of faith who shares her past experiences, real-life marriage ups and downs, and the trials of her family and herself so that you and anyone who chooses to read this will know the authentic me and see the true grace of God.
